What if Stranger Things actually came out in the 1980s

Now that both volumes of Stranger Things season 4 are out, the show once again has everyone wishing that they could be transported all the way back to the 1980s. The show is set in the 1980s and is filled with nostalgia and references from that time period, but what if the show actually came out in the 80s. Who would play the beloved characters that we're all so familiar with now. Well, that's what I'm going to find out, here's who I think should be in the cast if they made Stranger Things in the 1980s. Show some support if you want to see more.

Drew Barrymore as Eleven

Most people know Drew Barrymore from E.T where she played the adorable little sister but the reason that I think she would be so great as Eleven is because of her performance in 1984s Firestarter. She plays a little girl that can start fires with her mind and is afraid and confused about her power. She also has more experience in horror because she also appeared in another Stephen King film, Cat's Eye. 1980s Drew Barrymore is the perfect candidate for Eleven and her ability has an actor could easily carry the show.

 Brooke Shields as Nancy

Shields is of course known as the romance star of the 80s for movies like The Blue Lagoon and Endless Love which is perfect for someone like Nancy. Nancy has romances with Steve and with Jonathan so experience in that area is really important. Nancy is also a badass, so whoever played her would have to be able to pull of some of the vigilante like stunts that she does. Shields has shown her aptitude for action and suspense with movies like Sahara and the Seventh Floor. 1980s Brooke Shields would be the perfect heartthrob to play everyone's favorite big sister.

Danny Lloyd as Will

Yes, I know that Danny Lloyd is not an actor anymore but when you think of horror movie child stars Lloyd is probably the first that comes to mind. Young Lloyd would be perfect as Will, the quirkiness and the horror experience that he already had from the Shining give him just about everything he needs. He is of course convincing at acting scared. Overall, he would make the perfect season one Will but since he stopped acting so early, we don't really know if he'd still be able to grow into the character. However, I'd be willing to bet he'd be the perfect 1980s Will.

Malcolm-Jamal Warner as Lucas

Malcolm-Jamal Warner played Theo on the Cosby Show and is just the right age for someone to be playing Lucas on Stranger Things. Warner's character was confident and a little mischievous at times but eventually grew into a helpful and mature character which is similar to the path of Lucas Sinclair. Warner has stayed active as an actor, which only goes to prove his acting prowess and just why he would fit into 1980s Stranger Things so well.

Sean Astin as Mike

Astin already played Bob in season 2 of Stranger Things but Young Sean Astin was also acting in the 1980s. He proved that he could play characters that are leaders and characters that are adventurous with movies like the Gooonies and White Water Summer. Astin could easily lead Stranger Things group of misfit kids in the show. He was in the movie 50 First Dates with Barrymore and while they played siblings there was no denying their general chemistry.

Mia Farrow as Joyce

Who better to play the manic mother of Stranger Things then the same woman who played the manic mother of Rosemary's Baby? Mia Farrow showed that she has just what it takes to play Joyce Byers with that movie. Farrow also is a mother of 14 kids so playing a mom should come easily for her. She did end up with a lot of controversy but that wasn't until the 90s so for 1980s Stranger Things, Mia Farrow would make a great Joyce Byers.
