Everything you need to know about the new Guardians of the Galaxy game

E3 2021 was a roller coaster ride of highs and lows for gamers around the world. One of the more underwhelming showcases was Square Enix’s. They did however have one game that caught the eyes of marvel fan’s, Guardians of the Galaxy. We all know that Square Enix didn’t do the best job with Marvel’s Avengers; their main mistakes being: making it a live service game, repetitive gameplay, and constantly trying to get more money out of the players.

Guardians of the Galaxy seems to be learning from these mistakes, it is a singleplayer game focused on story and characters. You play as Starlord and you get to make decisions throughout the game that actually affect the story. It gives me the same kind of vibes as the previous Guardians game that was made by Telltale. When I heard the phrase “no microtransactions” I breathed a big sigh of relief.

It truly looks like Square Enix has listened to the fans before making this game and that is great news. It came off as a bit disappointing at first that we wouldn’t be able to play as the rest of the guardians but when you really think about it, it makes sense. To really be engrossed into this game the devs wanted to focus on one character in particular. Starlord is the heart of the team, and he’s the leader so he is the logical choice. As Starlord you get to give commands to your teammates, boost their morale, and make the hard decisions for the rest of the team.

One of the highlights of the game looks to be the banter between characters and the humor throughout the story. The movies are well known for being hilarious and I’m glad that the game is following suit. The game will also have a big emphasis on 80s culture and music, there is a new awesome mix that will play whenever the team “huddles up” for a big group attack. The character designs are cool, the story looks really fun, and the game itself looks awesome. I don’t wanna get ahead of myself but I have very high hopes for this game. I did feel the same about Marvel’s Avengers though, hopefully Square Enix won’t let us down.
