The Monsterverse expands with Godzilla's two new spin off series

Legendary's monsterverse has given us four movies so far. 2014's Godzilla, 2017's Kong Skull Island, 2019's Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and 2021's Godzilla Vs Kong. They are making another Godzilla vs Kong movie that is coming out March 15, 2024. That's a long wait but thankfully we have a few shows to feed our giant monster cravings until then.

Skull Island is a new anime coming to Netflix. It centers around a crew that has been shipwrecked on the island and have to face the monsters that inhabit it. The most impressive of them all being King Kong himself. We do know that the series is going to be produced by powerhouse animation which is the same company that produced the Netflix series Castlevania.

There hasn't been much else announced about the film except for one first look image that features two people standing in the middle of a giant footprint that we can only assume belongs to King Kong himself.

The other show is an untitled series that will be debuting on Apple TV+. The series is set to star father and son duo Kurt Russell and Wyatt Rusell. Kurt Rusell is of course known for staring in some of John Carpenter's best movies, most notably The Thing. His son, Wyatt, is known for playing in Overlord, Black Mirror, and 22 Jump Street. Both of them have course been in the MCU, Kurt playing Ego in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and Wyatt playing as U.S Agent in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Apple's new series is about a family that gets involved in the shady organization from the other movies known as Monarch. Wandavision's Matt Shakman is set to direct the first couple of episodes and production started on the week of January 30th this year. Sadly, neither of these shows have release dates yet, but I'm certain that at least one of them will be releasing in either 2022 or 2023.
